Holiday home Moon Light Rest

The family apartment had plenty of room and a lovely sea view, and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. We ate meals they offered as an add-on, and they were delicious and worth the price. The beach and nearby dive schools are an easy walk away, with a bus stand about three minutes from the place and food options close by. A real hidden gem in Unawatuna, especially for a beach trip. We’ll stay here on future visits.

The room was basic, with a bed, ceiling fan, desk, and enough space for a bag. The bathroom had a shower, toilet, and sink. It was all clean and in good condition, though not new. What made the stay for me was how warm and friendly the owner was. Breakfast came with the booking and was delicious, made with care. The house is large, with the family living in most of it and some apartments for guests. There’s a nice garden that gives the place a jungle feel, and you can see the beach from a few spots on the hill. I chose it for the recommendations, the price, and being near Unawatuna Beach. The entrance can be hard to spot: look for a little path off the main street and stairs going uphill. Once you find that, it’s easy, and the owner can help by phone if you get lost. I felt welcome enough to book another night for my return to Colombo.

We could hear loud party music from the beach, and there were quite a lot of mosquitoes. The night felt very hot to us, though I know that’s personal. The room was spacious, with a fan, hot water, and a mosquito net. The location is central and just above the beach. The family treated us very nicely, and there was always tea and a lovely breakfast in the garden, with both continental and local options. The garden was blooming beautifully.

The room was clean and lovely, only a few minutes from the sea. We had two wonderful nights here. The hosts were very nice, and breakfast was plentiful and amazing. I’d recommend this place ☺️
