Ocean on house

The landlady was really friendly, though she doesn't allow noise. We had a good night's stay here, and you can get to Turtle Beach and Thalpe from the place. The food was delicious 🤤

The hosts were kind, helpful and quick to offer advice. They made tasty breakfasts at the time we agreed on, and the host could also give us a ride by tuktuk when needed. For the price, this is a good, atmospheric place for people who plan to be out and about rather than spend their time in an apartment. There isn't hot water, but in the warm weather I didn't need it. The water wasn't icy, and cooling off after being outside felt nice. Insects are part of Sri Lanka, but with the windows open there were hardly any in the room. They didn't disturb my sleep, and I found no ants in my belongings. The railway runs right beside the house. The first train goes by around 5 a.m., then about once an hour until evening, so light sleepers should keep that in mind.

We stayed four days and really enjoyed it. The welcoming family helped us get around with the owner's tuk-tuk, and he also arranged a scooter rental. Turtle Beach and Dalawella Beach are both walkable. Breakfast was delicious: omelets with vegetables, tea, bread, jam and fruit. One day we asked the hostess for local coconut pancakes and really appreciated them. We had two towels, hand soap, toilet paper, an extra fan and a plug-in mosquito repellent. There's no AC, so it gets hot in the daytime, but fans were enough at night. We brought our own hangers. The house is by the railway, and trains start at 5:30 a.m. We left the windows open at night and could hear them, though it didn't bother us since we're early risers. There's no hot water, but it's usually comfortable, as the water warms in barrels during the day. Once, after overnight rain, it was cool in the early morning but still warm enough to wash. The view in the video is from a balcony shared by two rooms. There's also a shared kitchen with a fridge, sink, cutting board, knife, a couple of glasses, spoons and forks.
