I slept better here than at the fancier, more expensive resorts I tried. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the place had the basic amenities without being fancy. When I arrived in Jan 2018, the host was very friendly and went out of their way to make me a delicious dinner. It's an economical, homely B&B very close to the beach in Unawatuna, and I wouldn't hesitate to return to TYD Location Unawatuna if I visit Sri Lanka again. Great value for backpackers and first-time travellers.

Our hosts made it easy to relax, and the WiFi worked okay most of the time. The location is quiet but still convenient for the beach and main roads. We had the room with a private veranda overlooking the gardens of a hotel below, where we watched langurs, fireflies and bats. The four-poster bed with mosquito nets felt comfortable and romantic, and the room was clean with basic but perfectly adequate facilities. Naveen cooked delicious traditional meals for us at prices that were very good compared with nearby restaurants. We had a great stay and I highly recommend it in Unawatuna.

It’s easy to get around from here: the Galle-Matara main road is just a minute or two away, Unawatuna beach is walkable, and there’s a small grocery shop on the main road plus a nearby Cargill's food city. The location feels convenient and good value for the price. Rooms are neat and clean, with two triple rooms and four double rooms. Breakfast is available if you want it, and the manager is helpful and flexible. They can also arrange safaris, chauffeur service around the country, and airport pickup and drop-off.

Our room at the top felt like the luxury option, with its own sitting area and a view of a jack fruit tree. Such good value in a quiet part of Unawatuna, and honestly much better than its low-key reputation suggests.
