The kind family running the homestay were the best part. They helped us with everything we needed, made us a wonderful local breakfast, and even prepared dinner for us. The room was lovely, with a nice bathroom. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're after a more local experience.

The beach is just a few minutes away, and you can even see turtles there. The whole neighborhood is lovely, with a small shop on the corner run by very friendly people. We stayed with a warm, lovely family and had such a great time that we already miss them and hope to see them again soon. Their house has a cozy room with a big, comfortable bed and a clean bathroom, plus a nice little garden. There's so much to say about the experience that it's hard to put into words. Stay respectful and kind to the ever-smiling people of Sri Lanka. They deserve it, because we're all human. Best wishes from Unawatuna!

The hosts were really nice and friendly, and the location was great. Still, we left shortly after arriving. Though we'd paid for the room, we didn't sleep there. There was nowhere to put our things, and the room had no trash can or soap. We knew there was no AC, but it was humid, hot, and loud enough that we couldn't have slept. It smelled very musty, and there were lots of dark spots on the walls, probably mold. We didn't want to breathe that all night. The sheet looked fresh, but had big spots all over it, and the mosquito net was disgusting, full of holes and stains.

The family were so warm and welcoming, and the room was cozy and clean. They can make and serve an incredible local dinner and breakfast. It's a lovely homestay, and I'd come back any time.
