Thaproban Beach House

We had a wonderful stay, and the friendly, welcoming staff were always ready to help. The hotel sits right across from the beach, a lovely place to swim and spend a peaceful day by the sea. The food was incredible, especially the seafood, some of the best in Unawatuna. Even if you're not staying here, the restaurant is worth a visit for its fresh seafood dishes. I’d happily recommend this place to anyone visiting Unawatuna.

The rooms were so pretty, cozy, clean, and absolutely perfect. The staff were gentle and polite, too. The hotel is right in the city center and has private beach access, with a lovely bar and sunbeds. I suggest including breakfast. They offer both continental and Sri Lankan options, and the Sri Lankan one was exquisite. We really recommend staying here!

We never stayed at the hotel, so I can’t speak to the rooms or accommodation. We were staying nearby, tried the restaurant for dinner, and liked it so much that we came back the next night. Both evenings had the same attentive service and delicious food, which left a great impression. On our first visit, the staff greeted us warmly and helped us choose some popular dishes. We ordered squid, prawns, and the tuna steak they recommended. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the ingredients seemed high quality and carefully prepared. The squid was tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right, with a good texture, not overcooked or chewy. The juicy prawns were beautifully grilled and had a lovely natural flavor without needing heavy seasoning. The tuna steak was the highlight. It was grilled fresh and served just right, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It tasted very fresh, and the grilling brought out the best in the fish. It was one of the best tuna steaks we’ve had in a long time, and we’d recommend trying it. The restaurant had a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere, comfortable and not too crowded, so it was easy to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The food was presented simply but appealingly, arrived in good time, and the portions were satisfying for the quality and value. The staff stayed friendly, attentive, and professional on our second visit, and the food was just as good as the night before. If you're nearby and want fresh seafood with good service in a pleasant setting, this restaurant is well worth a visit. We had a wonderful time and will return.

Dinner under the stars, served right on the beach, was especially delicious. We stayed three nights at Thaproban Beach House on half board, with breakfast and dinner included, and it was one of our best decisions in Sri Lanka. The hotel is right on the beach, with free sunbeds and beach towels that made relaxing by the ocean easy. The reception and restaurant teams were especially kind and attentive, and all the staff were ready to help with anything. They made our stay comfortable and memorable. Highly recommend it for a visit to Unawatuna.
