Unawatuna Beach Bungalow

The beach was nearby, but getting to it from the property wasn't easy. We only stayed a few nights before moving to another hotel, which was much better. This place was a big disappointment after the reviews we'd read. The sheets had large holes, the shower barely trickled because the water pressure was so low, and the few toiletries weren't replenished. Our room was cleaned only after we asked. Breakfast was poor, with small portions and very little choice.

A lovely, peaceful spot surrounded by greenery, with an easy walk to everything and just a minute from the beach. We stayed two nights as a family of five. The hosts were kind and friendly, and our rooms were bright and cleaned, with air conditioning and a safe. A great little place in Unawatuna, highly recommend.😀👍 Photo from our terrace.

We could walk to the beach in no time, and most evenings I headed there barefoot to find dinner. My mother, her friend and I stayed in a spacious apartment on the top floor of Unawatuna Beach Bunaglow. The owners, who are brothers, and their staff were incredibly kind and friendly. They also arranged tuk tuk’s and airport transfers for us and were so helpful throughout. Absolutely phenomenal, I'd highly recommend staying here.

The beach is a two-minute walk away, but the guests I booked this hotel for weren't happy and complained to me. They refused breakfast because it was being prepared while the kitchen was under repair, with dust and cement dust everywhere. There were flies around and the inside wasn't clean. The staff were smoking around the clients, even while serving them, and seemed to think people were staying there on credit. The access road is difficult too: if another vehicle comes from the other direction, you have to reverse back to the main road. It might be okay if there's nowhere else to sleep.
