Weligama Villa South

The house is in a quiet neighborhood, about a 15-minute walk from the beach. We stayed at Weligama Villa South for two nights and got the chance to meet local people, which was exactly what we wanted. The friendly family, a mother, father, and their 22-year-old son, took great care of us. They welcomed us to use the kitchen, fridge, and shared areas, and offered to help with laundry. Our room had a fan and a mosquito net over the bed, plus our own bathroom with warm water. They made tea whenever we came back or in the morning, and were patient with all our questions about Sri Lanka.🇱🇰 One evening the dad cooked delicious fish curry and we ate together. Akash (the son) also gave us a great surf lesson at Weligama beach, which we'd recommend if you'd like to try it.❤️

The house is only 500m from town, which made getting around convenient. It was clean, including the room, and had a small terrace surrounded by a garden. There's a hot shower and good Wifi. In the mornings we could hear birds and peacocks, and there are three friendly dogs. The family was adorable and always offered us tea when we got back from our outings. They also helped us have a BBQ in the garden since we wanted to cook our own meal.

For budget travel, vila south is a must. Nadee, the host, is such a warm and nice person, along with her hausband and son. You're actually staying in their home with them. Our room was small but cosy, and the living room had enough space for everyone. Don't miss breakfast, it was the best we had in our three weeks travelling in Sri Lanka. It's a little outside town, so nights are calm with no honking, but still only a couple of minutes' walk. Absolutely recommended.

A very nice place for guests, with free hot water and WiFi. Weligama town is about 500 mtrs away.
