The location is lovely, but the whole stay was a shocker and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know. We paid around R1100 per room per day for two nights, and it didn’t feel worth the price. The rooms were okay, but there was no noise control at all. The first night, guests in other rooms shouted at each other, drank, and walked up and down the passage all night. Around 5am, a group arrived to collect a friend who was graduating. We later learned they weren’t staying there. They sang, shouted, called out, and went up and down the passage. Staff didn’t step in either time. The next morning, at about 06h30, the man on duty knocked aggressively on the door beside ours to get a guest to come to reception about a booking payment issue, as his shift was about to end. The dispute had started the night before, with him knocking and shouting back and forth with the guest, who wouldn’t open the door. Phones in each room might prevent this sort of disturbance. Breakfast was another problem. No one asked about allergies, preferences, or what options we wanted. Everyone got the same food whether they liked it or not. The omelette was cold and burnt, cut into tiny pieces to share among everyone. The Viennas seemed to have been defrosted in a microwave and still had water inside. The toast was terrible, and the juice tasted like a cheap mixer. People at breakfast were complaining and ended up leaving food uneaten. I asked for warm milk with cereal but got cold milk that seemed watered down, which others noticed too. The next day we refused breakfast and ate at Wimpy in Bloemfontein. We also had to keep asking reception for two towels instead of one, though there were two adults in the room. The toilet paper was very cheap and frayed. The receptionist, who I think said her name was Moipone Moji, was friendly but seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed. It’s a beautiful setting with potential, but too many corners are being cut. The staff need proper training, the food needs to improve, and the noise needs to be managed. I don’t understand why groups of people who aren’t staying there are allowed into the rooms at 5am to sing and shout, or why guests can make noise all night without anyone intervening. There wasn’t enough parking either, so you may find there’s no space for your vehicle.

Meals are available if requested, and there are places to eat about 800m away on foot. The hotel is within a kilometer of Maseru city centre. Its small, cosy rooms are budget friendly and suit short stays. There’s Wi-Fi, and the heated mattresses are welcome in winter.

We paid 300 rand a night for a room with two twin beds. It was a budget rate, but everything was well kept, with hot running water, and it felt safe once inside. The place is just off the main road and exactly where the map shows it.

It’s right in the centre of Maseru, but the reception doesn’t manage guests well. Drunk people were noisy, drinking beer and dancing all night while the rest of us wanted to sleep.

The place was good, though the room was too small. Maybe they could add a drawer beside the bed for phones and other valuables while people sleep.
