The man on morning duty deserves a mention. He was friendly, pleasant, and gave good service. We had enough room for both of us and our 30-inch suitcases. We left them open for the whole trip and could still move around. The toilet had heated floors, and the beds and towels were clean with no stains that we could see. There was a kettle in the room, though coffee and tea weren't included. A coffee machine by the lift downstairs sells hot drinks. The TV had a good range of channels, including ones beyond Lithuanian channels, so you could easily spend a day in the room. Breakfast was simple, but you could try local Lithuanian herring and fish jelly. The hotel is beside Hales Targus, with lots of food options nearby. For the price, I expected more toiletries, like a toothbrush, shower gel, and shampoo. We got a bar of soap and a small packaged shampoo, which felt a bit budget. One towel was frayed, though it was clean. I still enjoyed the stay: a supermarket, the local food market, and a few sights are all around a 5-10 minute walk away.

We slept really well in our clean, spacious room, and the breakfast buffet was generous and tasty. I chose City Gate hotel mostly for its location. Airport bus 88 dropped us almost right outside, and we could walk from there to Vilnius Oldtown. Great value for money.

The only real plus is how close it is to the old town. Our ground-floor room was dark and smelled musty, with a tiny shower room. Breakfast was in a cramped room, and people had to jostle around the limited buffet. The staff were unpleasant too. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

It's a clean, pleasant hotel in a handy spot, just a short walk from the old town's main sights. If I end up in Lithuania's capital again, I'd happily stay here.

Oksana at reception made the stay especially easy, she was so helpful. The room was clean and roomy too. I was really pleased with the hotel and would pick it again on my next trip.
