Hotel DeFive

We stopped for a quick drink and got it promptly, nice and cold. But someone who seemed to be a worker, owner, or family member sat outside beside us, playing loud videos on his phone, TikTok or something. It was annoying, and then he lit a cigarette, which made the atmosphere even less pleasant. The place could use a big upgrade and has an old pub feel.

The location is beautiful, but our stay was disappointing. Because of circumstances at the hotel, we were downgraded: instead of a bathroom, there was a leaky shower cabin in the room, and we had to go out to the hall to use the toilet. That wasn't what we'd planned for our vacation. We got a €10 refund from the booking site.

We’re looking forward to giving it a second try, hopefully with the right sauce on the steak. The lunch deal was affordable by LUX 2022 standards, even on Saturday at noon, and the house wine was affordable too. The “steak Maître d'hôtel” was around 15€, with excellent double-fried chips and a rich salad, though they didn't honor our request to swap the sauce, which cost it a star. The kitchen stays open until 13:45 at lunchtime. It’s a warm, old-fashioned pub with lodging and a charming dining area that welcomes dogs. The decor has a charming film look, and you can touch, play with, or flush it. If it works, don't fix it! There's a softly but solidly 🇱🇺 patriotic feel. The village also has some of the sexiest sandstone sights in the Grand-Duchy.

We went in for coffee and were treated very badly. The atmosphere was very unfriendly.
