The Seven Hotel

We got an affordable deal through a concert-stay ticket, and the breakfast was amazing, with lots of tasty choices made fresh. I also liked the quiet location and the nice view. The rooms are on the small side compared with other hotels, but the layout works well and the showers were really nice. Staff were helpful throughout, from check-in to check-out.

The room had no air conditioning, which made it hard to sleep in the summer heat. Service was excellent, and the place was very clean and comfortable, but the prices were shockingly high, well beyond what I’d expect from even an upscale hotel nearby. Breakfast alone was €80 per person. That’s simply outrageous.

The staff were amazingly kind and helpful, and the location was peaceful. We even spotted a deer in front of the hotel one evening. The rest was disappointing. The furniture feels dated, the bathroom ceiling shows water damage, and there’s no ventilation in the toilet area. The mini-fridge looked well past its best, the desk was badly scratched, and the room had no AC, only some sort of fan. On days when the restaurant was closed, breakfast was ridiculous, with meat and cheese that looked like they’d been sitting out for ages. The outside terrace needs paint, too. Water dripped from some windows, and instead of fixing them, they’d put padding underneath to stop splashes.

The restaurant felt pretentious without delivering. I ordered a 400g veal steak medium rare, but it arrived well done. The chef apparently got annoyed when I sent it back. The replacement was cooked properly, but had at least 100g of fat. Better to eat somewhere else. The hotel itself is very nice, with great rooms, comfy beds and walk-in showers.
