Grand Hotel Cravat

We spent five nights here and really enjoyed it. The building has a lot of charm and character, and the location made sightseeing easy. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well maintained, while the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide selection of high-quality breads, cheeses, meats, and other choices. I was surprised to find baked beans, sausages, and bacon at a European hotel, and there was something for everyone. I’d definitely recommend it.

Our room was stunning, with lots of space, high ceilings, and almost floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at the Constitution monument. Slippers and bathrobes were among the thoughtful extras. The hotel itself is grand and stately, and within walking distance of the Ducal Palace, Notre Dame cathedral, the Bock and Petrusse Casemates, and Chemin de la Corniche. Cafes and restaurants are close by too, so the location is hard to beat. We got the sense that the hotel often hosts dignitaries and other notable guests. Staff seemed focused on making sure everything was just right, though some guests appeared to get more positive attention than others. One quirky detail was the elevator: you enter through one door, then leave through a door at a right angle to it, neither on the same side nor directly opposite.

The location is great, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. For the price, I wouldn’t change anything about it. The hotel has a very old-school feel, though there was a strange smell, almost like teacher breath.

The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options, including local favourites, and the staff there were amazing. The location was ideal, right across from the Christmas market, with lovely city views and an easy walk to the centre, restaurants, and bars. Our balcony looked partly over the market, which was the best feature of our room. The room and bathroom had an authentic, very dated look. They need a major refurbishment given the rates. Heating was lovely in the chilly weather, but there were no charging ports by the bed, so I had to use the bathroom socket. The room had basic amenities. The shower was good and the bath amenities were fine, but the tub is small, and water gets onto the floor when you shower even with the curtain. Betim handled check-in quickly and very directly, with no small talk. Check-out was the same, and nobody asked how the stay had been. The hotel charges 250€ at check-in for incidentals rather than pre-authorising it. I was told it would be refunded soon, and planned to give it another 3/5 business days to show up in my account. Mr. Carlo, I hope you’re reading this. Please consider updating the bathroom and some of the FF&E, which have clearly been in use a long time and need an upgrade. I hope you have renovations planned and budgeted in the upcoming CaPex for 2025/2026. The air freshener in the corridor has a strong Middle Eastern fragrance. It’s pleasant, but when it hits you directly it can bring on a massive migraine, though maybe that’s just me. The WiFi is so poor that with one connection bar it’s not worth using. WiFi boosters might help rooms on the floor, since the router is near the elevator. It was a nice gesture to find two apples in the room on arrival, brought by your lovely staff, but a local amenity would help support local businesses. This was my second visit to LUX and my first at your hotel. Hopefully by next year the bathroom renovations will be done and the rooms will have some sort
