Hotel-Restaurant Le Cigalon

The staff were very friendly, but the meal fell short of what we expected for a special occasion. The aperitif came with no appetizer, and the tarte flambée was partly burnt and didn't taste especially fresh or homemade. The tartare de boeuf was completely lacking in flavor, while the only edible piece of magret felt overpriced at 34 Eur. As locals, we can't recommend the restaurant.

We only ate at the restaurant, we didn't stay overnight. It's great that dogs are welcome, and the staff were polite and accommodating. Prices felt a bit unreasonable, though, and the soup serving was tiny with nothing alongside it. The beef tartare was tasty and the flammkuchen was okay, but that was about it.

The hotel sits right on the trail, which suited us while hiking the Mullerthal trail. We had dinner and stayed one night, and the salad, duck confit, and dessert made for one of the best meals we've had in lu so far. The hotel is cute and the staff were helpful. The room was average, and it was a nice change from the corporate US hotels we're used to.

The traffic noise at night was the one downside. A fan would've helped us keep the windows shut. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and had a balcony, though it was a little dated. The hotel has a lovely shady terrace and a great restaurant. The food was first rate, especially the guinea fowl and sandre, cooked perfectly, plus an amazing amuse bouche. It's a great base for hiking, and circular walk C5 was magical. Thoroughly recommend it.
