We only stayed a night on a side trip from Riga, and the town caught us off guard in the best way. It’s lovely and easy to explore on foot, one of our favorite places. The hotel grounds are beautifully kept, and the location puts the castle and lots of restaurants close by. Our room and the rest of the hotel were very clean, and the staff were amazing. Breakfast didn’t have a huge selection, but what was there was high quality and we were happy with it. It got a little warm in the room on a June afternoon. I wish there were fans to move the air, maybe ceiling fans or oscillating ones. Once the sun went down, the temperature was just right. We loved our stay and hope to come back.

The rooms are simple, but they were quite satisfying, and breakfast was pretty good even though I’d have liked more variety. The place feels a bit old-fashioned, in a good location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it.

The shower was a bit of a mystery. The water kept switching from hot to cold and back, though I left the setting alone. Maybe it’s meant to be a contrast shower? 🤣 Breakfast was modest, but there was something to choose from, and the coffee was strong and tasty. The room felt cozy and tidy, with a good amount of space, not too small like some other places. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a nice option, and the castle is only a few minutes away on foot.

The room looked good, and I liked its design and how clean it was. The shower kept changing temperature, which got really annoying, and the internet wasn’t great on the top floor. There’s no elevator, so we had to carry our heavy suitcases up three floors.

The room was clean and looked new, though there’s no air conditioning. I think this is the town’s only three-star hotel. It opened in 1939 and gets renewed regularly.
