Old Riga Park Studio

We left after the first night and had to pay for a hotel ourselves. The apartment was dirty, with mold in the washing machine drawer and coffee maker, musty sheets and towels, and dirty dishes, glasses and microwave. The listing advertised a balcony, but it was just a tall window with a Juliet rail, nowhere to step outside. The host, Dmitrijs, said that counted as a balcony. We had prepaid €427.92 for six nights we didn't use. We got €170 back, and the host offered another €30 but never sent it. After weeks of chasing, €287.92 was still outstanding. His replies were brief and vague, with no real solution. We stayed from 23 to 24 June 2025, and filed all our evidence with Booking.com. Don't book until the hygiene is addressed, the listing is corrected, and refunds are paid.

The only thing this place has going for it is its location in Riga. We booked seven nights but left after one because the hygiene was so poor, and found somewhere else to stay. The kitchen was filthy too. There were old food bits or possibly bacteria on the extractor hood, cupboards and counter, and the dishes in the cupboards and drawers were dirty. The kettle, microwave and oven had food crumbs in them. The coffee machine was dirty and moldy, so making coffee wasn't an option, and the cups and spoons weren't clean either. The sheets and towels smelled awful. We checked the washing machine and found black mold, which seemed to explain the smell. They were old and in poor condition as well. I could put up with uncomfortable, worn sheets, pillows and a mattress, but not laundry washed in a moldy machine. There were other problems: no free closet shelves for our clothes, and thin curtains that let in so much light we couldn't sleep in. The advertised balcony was a large window, according to the host, and a laundry rack was set there to dry the moldy laundry. The other so-called balcony window had a portable AC unit blocking access. When we told the host we were leaving, he apologized and said he'd cooperate with a refund for the six unused nights. A few weeks later, we'd only received about 30 percent, so it seems he'd changed his mind. I'd suggest he spend a night or two there and see what the moldy sheets and towels are like. New sheets, pillows and towels from IKEA wouldn't cost much, and the black mold needs cleaning.

Had a really pleasant evening there. Great accommodation.

The location was good, though the views weren't much.
