Latgale Hotel

We enjoyed nearly everything about the place. The hotel is conveniently located and has a parking lot, though it isn't very large. Our room was clean and comfortable, and all the staff were friendly and polite. There was a good breakfast selection, and the cafe served a delicious dinner with quite a few dishes to choose from. For dessert, you could order ice cream or an ice cream cocktail with any juice. The main problem was that there was no hot water. We'd been on the road a long time and couldn't shower. The shower stall wasn't good either, and the wall lamps were broken. That's why I gave it only 3 stars.

We stayed in a suite for two nights with our pet, and the hotel felt very basic for the amount charged in this area. The bathroom caused the most trouble. The toilet bowl leaked noisily, there was no ventilation, just a sham grill, and switching between the shower and tap took a huge amount of force. We asked to change rooms, but no similar options were available. We booked through the booking system, where properties usually tell you the pet fee straight away so you can refuse the offer if needed. Here, they only gave us the price at reception on the check-in date, and it was higher than anywhere else. Breakfast was very simple. On the second morning, reception forgot to warn the separate kitchen unit that a large number of guests were coming, so there wasn't enough food. The cooks were rushing around.

The view from the windows was good, but we felt like unwanted guests. The room was clean, though it felt very overpriced. The double bed was just two single beds pushed together. The bathroom was horrible, and hot water took five minutes to come through. Breakfast was small and looked unfresh.

The breakfast was okay, but I had a really terrible stay. There are many much better places in Rezekne for the same money. They first put me on the 8th floor, where clouds of smoke were hitting my eyes, and the room smelled as if someone had just smoked in it. They moved me to the 7th floor, where I could only smell smoke at night. The new room was dirty, with spider webs all around. Its shower curtain was too small, so water ran onto the floor. The hotel feels stuck in the 90s, and everything is in poor condition. My balcony was covered in pigeon droppings, and when it was windy I could see the curtains moving because the balcony wouldn't close properly. Somehow a pigeon got trapped inside behind the nets. I asked reception to do something, but after two hours an angry woman came and wondered why I hadn't caught it myself. She made it clear she didn't think I was a man if I couldn't do it. My colleague on the third floor got fleas (photo attached). Stay away from this hotel.
