Aparthotel Plaza KG

The hotel is newly renovated to a good standard, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Its position in the Old Town is brilliant, with everything easy to reach on foot. The rooms are very small, though, with some awkward layout problems: there’s a desk, but the fridge and bin underneath leave no legroom to sit at it. The bed blocks the toilet door from opening fully, and sitting on the toilet puts your chest against the sink. If you can live with the cramped space, it’s a good, inexpensive hotel. On booking.com, it’s listed as Old Riga Plaza or something similar.

I stayed on 4 March 2022 and would gladly come back. The room was lovely, everything was new, and it was clean, with a very comfortable bed and a brilliant shower. Staff were friendly, and someone offered me coffee at reception even though there was some in the room. The location is central and within easy walking distance of the train station, so it worked well for tourists and people passing through. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.

The airport bus, Line 22, stops two blocks from Aparthotel Plaza at 11. November, which makes getting there easy even late at night. I enjoyed my stay. I knew the street-facing rooms could be noisy, so I called two days before arriving and asked for one at the back. That worked perfectly. I’d suggest requesting a room on the 5th or 6th floor facing the rear.

Nothing went right with this booking. When I got to Riga, the place wasn’t even open. It looked completely closed, and I wasted time trying to find a way to contact them. The phone number they provided was in Kyrgyzstan, a country I hadn’t even heard of, and spending my money calling it turned into a ridiculous situation. Don’t book this. The hotel either doesn’t exist or isn’t currently open.
