City Westa Hotel

The location is very close to the bus station and old town, which is great, but the surrounding area felt shady, a bit dangerous, and unwelcoming. The reception looked creepy and run down, and only Russian was spoken there. The elevator was broken. Our bed sheets were dirty, as if someone had stood on them with shoes. The bathroom and other room amenities were OK but very basic, as expected for a budget hotel. I wouldn't recommend it even to budget travelers. I'd actually prefer a bunk in one of Riga's top-rated hostels.

The water pressure and temperature were good, and the receptionist was very polite and fine with our after-hours check-in. The hotel is conveniently next to the bus station, but it's right in the loud central market. It's old, neglected, run down, and smells of cigarettes. There were broken doors on the way to our room, corridor noise all night, dirty bed sheets, and a dusty feeling in the air. I wouldn't recommend it. The place needs a lot of work and attention immediately.

The location was really handy, right by the market and close to both bus and train stations. We stayed one night and would happily return. The staff were warm and helpful, the room was clean and tidy, and the beds and shower room were fine. We also ate at the Bistro, where the food was good quality and cheap. Thanks!

It was fairly quiet at night, even though the building is just outside the market by the bus station. The old place has lovely details, including oak beams in the rooms, a built-in radiogram in the headboard, and soft night lights.
