Relais Le Chevalier

The desk staff were really friendly, and we enjoyed both the buffet and hot dishes included with our breakfast booking. We chose an inside room, which I'd suggest if you're concerned about noise from the square. The location is handy too, about a five minute walk from almost anywhere in the old town. I'd definitely recommend it for a short Riga break.

Staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, and there's a roomy lounge with a bar that stayed open. The hotel is modern and nicely decorated, with comfortable touches and a large bathroom and shower by European standards. It's right in the heart of Riga's old city. I'd gladly stay again when I'm back.

The nightclub next door was the problem. We could hear the music thumping all night from our third-floor room. Breakfast in the morning was just okay. On the positive side, the location worked well for exploring Old Town, our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were especially attentive and friendly, particularly Kamila and Alisa. Alisa also arranged a driver for our early flight.

The location is good, but that's about all I can praise. The service was pathetic, and the room was okay but a little worn. Our air conditioning didn't work in the summer heat, and the answer was a fan. There were three of us, and they could only provide one. The receptionist could handle check-in, but had no idea how to guide guests around the city. Riga has plenty of good hotels where you don't have to struggle for basic things on holiday. For me, this one's a strict no.
