Two Wheels

The room was a small concrete box with a musty bed, and it cost 80 euros. The lady who greeted us seemed uninterested and unhelpful, just handing over the keys and saying, “2nd floor.” We hadn’t paid yet. After seeing the room, we returned the keys and decided to leave. She seemed annoyed but not surprised, and made no effort to ask what was wrong or persuade us to stay. It almost felt like this happens often. We were there for only five minutes, so maybe my review isn’t fair, but I wouldn’t recommend the place.

The host was so thoughtful while I was recovering from surgery and really went out of the way to help. I slept well on the soft bed, and the room was warm, clean, and cosy. The clear bathroom walls were a fun little detail. Getting around Riga from here was easy, too. I stayed two nights and had a great time. I'd happily come back next time I'm in Riga.

The staff were welcoming and showed us around, explaining things like the paid breakfast. Rooms are roomy, with private bathrooms, and the place feels cosy. The bathroom divider is a funny choice if you're sharing with friends, though, so check the photos. For the price, it's a great place to stay. You can leave bags after checkout before heading to the airport or bus, but they're left in an unlocked lounge beside the bar, which felt a little uncertain security-wise. The location is okay: a tram or bus gets you there, while walking takes over 40 minutes, so public transport makes more sense.

The neighborhood is peaceful since it's a bit outside the center, and public transport is good enough to get there easily. We loved relaxing on the several terraces with a beer after a long day exploring town. The breakfast was tasty, and the coffee was really nice. Staff, interior, and location were all lovely too. We had a superb stay.
