Riad le Ksar de Fes

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and arranged a pickup from the train station followed by a ride to the airport. The riad is lovely, with a pool and garden, and it's close to the airport. We'd recommend staying an extra night before your flight from Fes airport!

I liked the large garden and swimming pool, a nice place to unwind, and the riad is handy for the airport, about a 10' drive. There's also a gas station 200m away if you're returning a rental car. Dinner was okay, chicken and bread. One thing I don't understand is why the prices were listed in Euros, then converted to MAD when charging my card, with about a 3% surcharge.

The riad is beautiful and close to the airport, but the quiet there felt quite scary. Service could be better, as we didn't feel very welcome. Communication was difficult, the Wi-Fi was terrible, and our room had no water, telephone, or TV. There were no drink prices posted either. We chose to get our own food since lunch was €10 and dinner €15, and we'd rather have a choice of what to eat. Breakfast was included for our two-night booking, but we only had it one morning because our flight was early. The breakfast itself was basic, bread and butter with a very hard pancake-like thing. At 4.30am, as we were leaving for the airport, they charged us 40 Dhirams, just over £3, for two tiny black coffee shots we'd asked for the night before. I understand it was too early to serve breakfast, but they could have skipped the charge or offered us a drink before we left. A man I believe was the manager walked around in a vest and spoke with no expression. He tried to arrange a taxi to the medina and back for around 450 dhirams, over £35, but we walked to the nearest village and found one for 10 dhirams per person, about 80p. It seemed like they just wanted to get money out of us however they could. The place was daunting, though pretty to look at.

Really lovely place, and the host was very nice.
