Auberge Des Peupliers

The food was the best part, a great three-course meal. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were clean too. Really lovely place.

The host was very kind and spoke English well, and the traditional food was good. The nature around the place is beautiful, and for the price it was definitely worth it. The room was ordinary but cold; the heater worked, though it was so loud that sleeping was difficult. Sadly, we had no warm or hot water, and the bathroom wasn’t in good shape either. Everything else was okay.

Avoid Auberge des Peupliers. Our tour agency, Great Travel Morocco or Be Morocan, arranged a disastrous trip through partners who seemed unprofessional, and this was the first night. We were three women, and they put us in the only room with a broken door lock while the other guests had working keys. We couldn’t properly secure the door. At first, staff refused to fix it and said the manager could “guarantee our safety.” The lock later trapped us inside, and other guests had to let us out. The owner then suggested he could “sleep in our room to protect us.” That felt invasive and frightening, especially coming from a man to women traveling alone. The lock was repaired only after we contacted the tour agency. The way these security concerns were brushed off as casual or funny was completely unprofessional. Before dinner, hotel staff and local men were drinking heavily. When we asked about a small New Year’s Eve celebration, drunk men came into our space, pressured us to dance, and one later followed a friend on Instagram. A fellow traveler also had 200 euros stolen from her bag. Two days after we left, she noticed 200 euros were missing; the thief had left 100 euros behind, which delayed her noticing and avoided immediate suspicion. This experience ruined the start of our trip in the beautiful Valley of Roses. General reviews may praise the location and food, but the safety problems made the stay unacceptable, especially for women. Strongly advise avoiding Auberge des Peupliers.

Ahmad was really friendly and hosted us with a big smile. He was very professional too. I left my charger and AirPods at the hotel, and Ahmad brought them to our next stop on his bike.
