Maison d'Hôtes La Vallée des Figues

After my hike, I stepped in just to use the toilet and was greeted so warmly. They offered me tea without expecting anything and invited me to relax on the balcony with its lovely view of the surroundings. The hospitality felt truly genuine and special.

Bob and his family made me feel right at home with their warm, genuine hospitality. I also loved the clean, cozy, comfortable room and the stunning views across the Dades Valley. Dinner was unforgettable, especially the tagine, one of the best meals I had in Morocco. Maison La Vallée Des Figues is a wonderful choice for peace, nature, and an authentic Moroccan experience.

The only disappointment was the hot water running out in the morning, so we had to shower with lukewarm water. Otherwise, Bob ran the place very well. He explained exactly how to reach the gorge, and the trailhead is only a few minutes away on foot, though you can drive and park there too. We stayed just one night, as seemed typical for many guests. Our room was small and basic but clean and comfy. It was next to the road, but traffic was generally quiet during the day and especially quiet after sunset. We had a spacious balcony with a wonderful gorge view. Bob was enthusiastic and attentive, greeted us with tea, and checked that we had what we needed. He asked in advance if we wanted dinner, and we were glad we said yes. The multi-course meal was good and huge, at €15 per person. Breakfast was a buffet with the usual Moroccan items and some other things. The place seemed popular, and for good reason. Bonus: Charlie the good girl is the sweetest.

Our canyon hike with Ahmed was amazing. He made it so much fun and shared a lot about the area's culture and history. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the whole place felt warm and welcoming. I'd highly recommend this auberge, and anyone planning a hike should consider having Ahmed as their guide.
