The camp is small and feels almost private, with no crowds, noise, stress, rush, or neighbors. There’s a starry sky, delicious food, the best tagine ever, king’s tea, and squeaky sand dunes all around. Mokhtar was a very hospitable host, and we’d love to visit him and his family again. It was a wonderful experience and a must see in Marocco. We arranged everything with Mokhtar over WhatsApp. Communication was excellent and there were no hidden costs. You can reach the camp in a 4x4, or ask for a ride from Foum Zguid, which is what we did. The desert drive with Abdo was an adventure in itself. Mokhtar first welcomed us into his home with delicious couscous, then we visited his Berber village before continuing to camp. The facilities are simple, which is part of the experience, but there’s a bathroom with a toilet and warm water, and the tent beds are very comfortable. Thanks so much, Mokhtar!

The sunset over the dunes was stunning, and the night sky was unlike anything we’d seen before. We watched the stars and Milky Way and counted shooting stars. They even lend you a board to slide down the sandy slopes. This was one of my best memories in Morocco. Mokhtar took such good care of us. We got to visit a Berber village a few kilometers away and see how local people manage water and live with very little. He welcomed us like royalty and did everything he could to make our stay memorable. The food was delicious, whether couscous, tagine, or something else, and we could choose our meals ahead of time. Breakfast was generous and varied. The bivouac is in a beautiful spot among the Erg Chegaga dunes, and it works for families. We arranged everything in advance to suit our choices, with no price surprises. Mokhtar organized our transfer from Foum Zguid, where we left our car. The roughly 2 hour 4x4 ride was an adventure through magnificent scenery, with colorful iguanas and dromedaries along the way. The tents at the foot of the dunes are spacious and comfortable. At the far end of camp, a basic washroom has toilets and a shower using a reservoir and buckets.

I’ve rarely had a stay this good. The camp sits among the dunes in a quiet part of the natural parc. The owner was generous and genuinely there to share with us, not just to make money. Go if you want an experience that means something.

The desert setting feels raw and authentic, and I had a wonderful night at the camp. Mokhtar was warm and funny. Thanks, Mokhtar!

The night sky was crystal clear, with epic sunsets and dunes stretching endlessly around us. It’s one of the most peaceful, breathtaking places I’ve visited, and a lovely spot to unwind, take photos, disconnect, and get a little adventure in nature.
