Adan Beach Residence, Beach Front Apartments

The reception team were genuinely lovely. When my little boy became ill and we had to go to hospital, they helped call an ambulance and checked on us after we got back. Our privately rented apartment also had a sea view, which helped make up for the state of the complex. The shared areas need attention. The pool was missing tiles, the communal spaces and lift were dirty and dusty, and an animal had soiled the hallway. I asked twice over two days for it to be cleaned, but it was only partly picked up, with no disinfecting or wiping, and the corridor still smelled strongly of faeces. There are three restaurants, and we often ate at "ospot". The welcome was warm, the food was lovely and affordable, and the small shop was affordable too. Having the beach right below the complex was great. There were lots of stray cats and dogs outside. We rented a car and would recommend doing that to avoid expensive taxis and get around. For what we paid, it met our needs, though the complex itself needs work.

We had no trouble finding parking, even when coming back from day trips, and there are several restaurants in the complex for food or coffee. The pool and lovely sea views were another plus. The apartment we rented at Adan Beach came with a big terrace overlooking the beach. We watched surfers and activities like horse riding, then spent evenings relaxing there and taking in the breathtaking sunsets. The staff were wonderful, especially Ghizlane, who was so helpful and accommodating. The manager checked in on us over WhatsApp and responded quickly whenever we needed something. We're really glad we picked this residence.

The apartment was roomy and had everything we needed, and it's right by the beach with restaurants, equipment rental and a market downstairs. It's a good base if you want to surf. Shopping in Aourir is an adventure, and the place seemed reasonably clean when we arrived. There's no service here, so don't expect any. The pool was clean but cold and unheated when we visited in December. Banana Beach felt like a local spot, with lots of Moroccans enjoying the beach and ocean. There were dogs, cats and rubbish around, much of it left by tourists who don't respect the place. If you want service and cleaner beaches, the resorts farther north are an option, but they cost a lot more. This place worked for our family, including kids who can be a bit hard on things. Come prepared to manage on your own if you want a taste of everyday Morocco outside the apartment.

I thought I'd rented a lovely apartment, but on Sunday morning, when building work isn't allowed, work started on the terrace, which isn't permitted to be built on. I contacted reception and the apartment owner, but nothing was done. They said they couldn't help because the person doing the work was their boss. The owner of this so-called tourist residence doesn't respect guests, and the whole response felt very unprofessional.
