Arima Surf House

The breakfast was freshly made each morning and served on the roof terrace. On arrival, a staff member gave me a warm welcome and useful suggestions for food and things to do. The property was kept clean despite the dusty neighbourhood. Those were the good parts. My ground-floor room was damp and poorly ventilated. The listing on the booking site called the property beachfront, but it was around a 30-minute walk to the beach, mostly along dusty roads. When I asked one owner about that description, she first said she knew nothing about it, then later acknowledged asking the site to remove the wording. The main door was another serious problem. I got locked inside and had to call for help because no owner or staff member was there. After I complained formally, an owner said nobody else had had trouble. I had seen another guest struggle with the same door, and a staff member had warned me it was hard to open. The owner had also initially said a previous guest damaged the handle, so the issue seemed known but unresolved. I left on my second morning instead of staying for my full booking, after finding a more suitable place on the beach with a more accurate description. The location was far from the beach, and apart from the welcome, tips, breakfast and cleanliness, the stay was unpleasant.

The rooftop view is amazing, and the food was delicious. The rooms were cozy and really nice, and everything was clean. Such a great surf house, with amazing staff.

We only stayed five days, but leaving was hard because it had started to feel so much like home. Rahma and Xabi are lovely hosts, always welcoming and ready to help with visits, tips or whatever else comes up. Omar, the surf coach, is calm, fun and helpful, and the hosts arrange everything for a good time surfing. They’re pet friendly too. We’ll come back and stay longer, and you might leave with friends for life.

The place has a great atmosphere, and even though it’s just a minute’s walk from the beach and Taghazout’s main street, it stays peaceful. We loved relaxing on the terrace. Rahma and Xabi were so welcoming, and after a week the hostel felt like home. It’s beautiful, clean and cozy. Thanks for everything, see you soon! ❤️
