Hotel Al Bassatine

The food was great, though I was the only person eating in the restaurant that evening. They could make the restaurant more of a place to gather and socialize. The pool was lovely, and it’s a nice spot for an overnight stay. I did miss having a bar.

The breakfast was basic, nothing special, and I won’t be coming back. The owner seems to have left the hotel without investment for more than 20 years, and it shows. My room wasn’t tidy: there was a used cigarette in the closet, a dead spider in the bed, yellow stains on the toilet seat, and old, stained towels. The price is far too high for a place that hasn’t been maintained for guests to enjoy their stay.

The gardens and view were nice, and the rooms were clean, but the facilities are old and some aren’t properly maintained. In August, the AC technically worked, though it barely did more than let me breathe. Breakfast came with the stay, but it was poor and didn’t live up to Beni Mellal hospitality. They could do much better. Just average overall.

My wife and I had booked a night away in advance, but the receptionist wouldn’t confirm our reservation. She said our marriage certificate needed a court seal, even though we explained that it was legally valid. She stayed firm and refused to accept the booking. I found her response unprofessional and lacking understanding, and we were extremely disappointed and frustrated. It felt discriminatory to reject guests over a legitimate legal document. The whole experience at Hotel Al Bassatine was disheartening, and we won’t return. I’d advise others to check what documentation the staff will accept before booking.
