Hotel Down Town by Business & Leisure

My wife and sick daughter were left stranded at 12:30 AM on January 16th after arriving in Morocco for medical care. I had called ahead and booked them a room for six nights, and the hotel had clearly confirmed it. But the front desk manager told them there was no room because the last one had been rented out. They were exhausted from the journey, and vulnerable in a foreign country. Their confirmed booking meant nothing, and the hotel showed no concern for their well-being. This was a complete breach of trust and, in my view, gross negligence. I can't believe an establishment could put guests in that situation and still be in business. The front desk's irresponsibility and lack of humanity were staggering. This isn't just a bad review, it's a warning. I give the hotel zero out of ten. Avoid it if you care about reliability, basic decency, and your loved ones' safety. I won't forget this.

Breakfast was poor, and the hotel locks its doors after midnight. The rooms were overpriced for their quality, and the service was very bad. I wouldn't recommend staying here, and would give it two stars at most. During my three-day visit two weeks ago, I booked a rear apartment with a bedroom and living room on the first day. When I came back at night, neither room's AC worked. It was extremely hot, but reception told me to wait until 8 AM for a technician and seemed unconcerned. The technician later said the units were too old and needed replacing. Even then, I was told to wait until another room became available that afternoon. Reception seemed more focused on getting paid than making guests comfortable.

This was my first time in Morocco, and Air France lost both my carry-on and suitcase. The hotel staff helped me contact the airline, kept me calm, and drove me to the airport to collect my luggage when it arrived three days later. The staff and management went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Thank you, Lahasn, Amine, Omar, Manal, and Adnane, for being so hospitable. I’d recommend Down Town Hotel to anyone staying in Casablanca.

The suites are spacious and modern, with a big shower, good AC, and a comfy couch. The staff were very nice, and the hotel arranged a convenient airport shuttle for about $40. There are lots of restaurants and nightlife nearby. We recommend Oncle Blend and Music Owl for live music. The only downside is the distance from tourist spots. You can get there by taxi in about ten minutes, or walk for 30-45 minutes.
