Mogador MARINA

After two eight-hour flights, this was a relaxing place to arrive at. From the moment you get there, it smells clean and nice, and I loved being able to choose what I wanted from the buffet. The location is beautiful, and from my room upstairs I could see everything. The staff went out of their way to help. I need to brush up on my French a little, but they understood me. Thank you to everyone who made the stay possible. I’ll definitely come back, and I’ve told all my friends about it. I have a large following crowd.

I was exhausted when we arrived around 4 am, and the hotel is 45 minutes to an hour from the airport. My Royal Air Maroc flight was late, I missed my connection, and the airline arranged this accommodation. The room was barely clean: hair on bedding that looked dirty, a poorly cleaned toilet, and spiders. I was too tired to complain, so I slept on the bed that seemed cleanest. The hotel smelled stale. Food wasn’t great either. There wasn’t much choice, the quinoa salad tasted off, almost stale, so I couldn’t finish it, and the pasta was cold. There was no WiFi or network on my floor, the third, though the reception agent just said it worked in the lobby. I’d paid a $15 roaming fee for basically nothing, and had to sit in the lobby or first-floor restaurant to get online and contact my family. The TV remote didn’t work. I asked for a replacement, but it never came. All of this made the stay uncomfortable. The workers smiled and weren’t rude, but they weren’t efficient. I won’t recommend this hotel.

The meals and breakfast were mediocre, and even getting a cup of tea felt like a chore. They put out two tea thermoses but not enough cups, which made it seem like they wanted people to give up and leave. A hotel of this standard in my country would never be like this. The rooms themselves were quite clean and comfortable.

My daughter and I arrived with a tour group at the Mogador Marina Hotel on Oct 12, 2024. The lobby was total chaos as several buses came in and people crowded the space. It felt like forever before we got a room key. With the crowd and just two small elevators, we had to walk up four flights of stairs. Our room was dirty and clearly needed serious repairs. There were urine stains on the bidet, the bathroom door wouldn’t lock, black tar or paint spots all over the dirty floor, no air conditioning, and internet speed of 2mbps. The towels were rags, and as I tucked in, something bit my leg at least three times. We soon found out others had problems too. I have a video of water streaming from the floor above into another passenger’s bathroom sink. Someone else sent around photos of a pipe coming up through the floor where the toilet should be, and their toilet under the bathroom sink. A woman we’d befriended said she sat up all night on a lobby couch after finding 6 bugs in her room, all engorged with blood, which she presumed were bed bugs and her blood. Our one night there was a nightmare. We later learned the Mogador Marina Hotel had been sold to the Hilton group and had overbooked for our last night on October 12. It felt as if the current owners were trying to squeeze out every last dollar before the Hotel changed hands. I would have moved hotels with my daughter and spent our last night somewhere better if I’d had the choice. Definitely not a Hotel to use at this point.
