Hostel Mauritania

Everything was good, but I got really itchy after staying there and noticed red spots on my skin. There may have been bed bugs on the bed or mosquitoes, I’m not sure. Just be careful when choosing a hotel, it happens.

The breakfast and rooftop terrace were both lovely, and the rooms were clean. We stayed three nights, which felt just right. We hadn’t realized the bathrooms were shared, but they were clean, and the place was worth the price. Nothing fancy, just right for what we paid.

The room my partner booked from the website was in terrible condition when I arrived: dirty and with no privacy. The shared bathroom was also below any acceptable standard, with very small shower stalls and no shower faucets. Even though the hostel is right inside the Medina, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The location is the main advantage, right in the heart of the city and handy if you’re only there briefly. The price seems fair for such a central spot, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. There are pleasant terraces where you can sit outside or chat with other guests. For me, it’s better suited to a quick stop than a longer stay. The facilities need attention. The toilet and shower doors don’t close properly, so there’s very little privacy, and soap is missing in many places. The locks should work, too, for both security and privacy. Rooms and shared areas look dated and poorly maintained, and the sanitary facilities are in bad shape. A renovation seems overdue.
