The food was fresh, tasty, and different each day, and the staff were kind and ready to help with anything. Right from the start, their warmth made me feel welcome. The camp had a relaxed, positive feel that soon felt like home, with staff and guests alike adding to the good atmosphere. My stay at Desert Sands Dakhla Hotel Camp was peaceful and well organized, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place in Dakhla. I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The kitesurfing spot here was far worse than at Dakhla Attitude, where the location and wind conditions were both much better. We had a very bad stay at this kitesurf hotel in Dakhla. Staff ignored our requests and showed little interest in helping, and the manager was often visibly drunk, making the atmosphere uncomfortable and unprofessional. We chose to leave early for Dakhla Attitude. The owner called us personally and offered a partial refund if we removed our review. We agreed and deleted it, but the refund never arrived. It felt dishonest and disrespectful. We can’t recommend staying here. For a professional experience and the better kitesurfing spot, go to Dakhla Attitude.

The views are amazing, and the beach is really close. They also give kitesurfers attentive support on the water, help with gear, and offer a good range of excursions to make the most of the trip. The staff are kind and helpful, the rooms and shared areas are clean, and the food is delicious, some of the best I’ve had at a beach hotel. Desert Sands is definitely the place to stay in Dakhla. I’m sure I’ll come back.

Kitesurfing was a highlight: the wind was perfect, and we spent hours gliding over the water. The team makes it a memorable experience whether you’re a beginner or a pro. Afterward, the peaceful oasis was a lovely place to unwind. We were welcomed warmly and had breathtaking views of the endless desert. The accommodation felt luxurious, mixing modern comfort with a touch of local charm. Highly recommend for adventure and relaxation in one beautiful spot!

The people were five-star, and the food was great, especially the chef. Almost everyone was friendly and tried to help. But there were too many problems, and I really wanted to give this place more stars. There’s one nice dome tent. The other options are dark little Moroccan tents or rooms that feel like cells. The beds were super hard, there were no wall hooks or places to hang clothes, and there was only one bedside table for three beds. The pictures don’t show the rooms they actually have. The room doors are planks with a deadbolt, not proper doors. Ours broke on day one, and it took 48 hours to replace it, so the room stayed unlocked. The replacement lock began failing within a day. The door was a problem the whole time, especially when sharing with someone who goes out at night and can’t lock up. Maids started cleaning at 10 or earlier, working around you in bed even if you were sleeping. With those rock-hard beds, sleep was hard enough already. There weren’t enough kite staff, so this shouldn’t be sold as a kitesurf resort. There’s one instructor and one assistant who’s still learning the sport. Usually they were busy with a student or helping someone who’d lost their way, so launching help was hard to find and nobody was there to help land. The place is at the end of the bay, without many other people on the beach. You’re basically on your own and need to be able to self-launch and self-land. I tried a rental kite, but after at most ten minutes I came in because it was too big. I had to land it and untangle the lines myself, with no staff around. Management still tried to charge me 80 euros for a full day, for ten minutes. That’s insane. I’ve rented at dozens of places worldwide and never had one charge for a kite that was clearly wrong after a quick try. If you need a rental, go to nomads next door. They’re cheaper, have more staff, and seemed much more like a real kitesurf resort. This place cuts corners on materials and staffing. I hope they succeed, but management needs to invest in development. As it is, I’d avoid it.
