San Mao Sahara

The area felt relaxed and family-oriented, and was pleasant to walk around. I saw young kids playing football on the street behind the hotel. There’s also a police station about 10 blocks away, beside a lovely fish market. I chose the San Mao mainly because it’s near the bus station. When I walked in, I noticed the smell of disinfectant and took it as a good sign of cleanliness. My single room was clean and suited my needs well, and having a decent-sized towel was a nice touch. I had a very positive stay at the San Mao during Ramadan. At 150 dirham per night, I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel was very clean and worth the price. The staff were friendly, easy to talk to, and available at reception 24/7. My room had good AC, satellite TV, a double-layer window with a mosquito net, and an excellent shower with a bath heater. It was cleaned every day, with fresh towels. There’s a cafe and kitchen on the top floor for hotel guests, plus self-service laundry. The rooftop has an open area for drying clothes and working out. Wi-Fi was superbly fast on every floor, and they also had a convenient baggage storage option if you were heading out and coming back later. Fire hoses and emergency phones were ready on every level, and CCTV monitoring was available.

The beds were quite comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The bathroom could use a refurbishment, though. It’s near the bus station but a fair walk from the city center, and I found the neighborhood a little dodgy. I stayed in November 2020 and was the only foreigner there. Still, it’s a good place for a couple of nights.

There’s no breakfast included, but you can find some nice cafes near the hotel. San Mao is right by the bus terminal. I didn't love the small windows, but the room is great for the price 👌
