Downtown Hostel Fez - Hostel

The owners are friendly, the rooms are beautiful, and the terrace has a beautiful view. This lovely family place is tucked away, so finding it is a bit of an adventure: you go through a little tunnel and into a small alley. The stairs are pretty narrow, and anyone over 6ft has to duck a bit. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a lot of luggage or don't like tight spaces.

I was really sad and disappointed by what happened, because I'd liked Dar Belmamoun at first. The rooms were clean and fragrant, the price affordable, the location strategic, breakfast delicious, and Asma was kind. In the morning I planned to leave a tip and a souvenir from my country, but then realized that someone had entered my room and taken 500 dirhams. I hadn't checked the Google reviews in time, and later saw that another guest had already reported money being taken at this hotel. My advice to the owner or whoever is responsible is to provide excellent facilities and charge a higher room price instead of taking visitors' money. Taking money is haram, a sinful act that will be hisab by God. Doing bad things to guests will only lead the business to bankruptcy.

Oshman made my trip to Fes special. As host at Dar Malmamoun, he was modest, passionate about Fes, and great at bringing people together. He went out of his way to make my stay a good one, and knew so much about Moroccan culture, history, and the best places in Fes for food and goods. He alone made this trip the highlight of my time in Morocco. The room itself was standard, clean, spacious, and had the basic amenities. The house was a bit tricky to find, and like many places in Fes, it had low ceilings that I hit my head on plenty of times. Part of the experience, but ouch!

A clean, quiet place, and it's in a great spot, close to almost all the places you might want to visit.
