The manager went out of her way to help me find some things I'd seen at the riad and around town. She contacted local merchants she trusted, and even arranged for one to come over because I was short on time. The staff also did their best to make us comfortable despite the language hurdle, since we don't speak French or Arabic. A translation app helped, and they were courteous, respectful, and professional. The place is as lovely as the photos, spotlessly maintained, and the decor makes it feel like a private palace. We had the main-floor room opening onto the dining and pool area, and spent three nights there with my girlfriend. Meals were tasty when we chose dinner by the pool. Breakfast was a little basic for a riad of this level, though the Nespresso machine was welcome for morning espresso. It felt like an oasis, and I found it hard to leave. If I come back to Fes, I'll stay here again and highly recommend it.

The location works well if you have a car, though it still felt a bit dangerous at night. The riad itself is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly, but our upper-floor room had a lot of comfort issues. There wasn't enough width for a double bed and bedside shelves, so one shelf sat in front of the bathroom entrance. The lamp had no outlet nearby, so we couldn't use it. The outlet for the bed was behind our heads, which made us uneasy. The AC above the bed had a bright, annoying green light at night, and we had to cover it with black tape. The bathroom had no door, so couples without that level of intimacy may need to plan toilet use around each other. Wi-Fi didn't work upstairs, and the hot water felt a bit cold at night in winter. The eating room had only two tables for four rooms, with a strange sofa beside one table and a useless TV hidden behind it. Breakfast for two came with three breads, three pancakes, and three cheeses. There's plenty of detail in the decor, maybe too much. After two nights we couldn't stand looking at all the tiles and contrast anymore. It looks lovely at first, as if designed for decoration magazines, but it didn't have the comfort a real Moroccan riad should offer. Cash only, and the conversion was strange.
