Saphiryad

The staff were all really friendly, and breakfast was delicious. I’d booked a single room, but when there was an issue with it, the host kindly moved me to a double, which I appreciated. The riad is tucked into a quiet part of the Fes Medina. Down the alley there’s a street with several restaurants, and once you get used to the narrow paths, it’s easy enough to reach the tannery and the main area.

Breakfast was a nice spread, with different pastries each day, fresh orange juice, yogurt, coffee, milk, and mint tea. We stayed in room 5 on the top floor, which has a double bed, a single bed, and a spacious bathroom with a big shower. There’s good light and fresh air up there, though the staircase is narrow and fairly steep. The lower rooms might have less light but mean fewer stairs. It’s a lovely little riad, tastefully decorated, and Mehdi is extremely kind. There was an unusual smell throughout, maybe from all the wood in the decor, but we got used to it. Excellent value.

For a group, this riad is cozy, picturesque, and affordable. We rented all seven rooms for our group of 10, and if you’re doing something similar, contact them to agree on a price. There’s lots of character, with wood decor and a huge hinged door on the ground floor, plus a sofa area where everyone can gather. No pool, and the terrace is small and basic, but you can smoke there. Breakfast was great, with fresh pastries. It’s not near the blue door, but an InDrive taxi was £2 and took about five minutes.

Medhi helped us through a difficult situation, and we were grateful for his help. The riad is just outside the Medina, with a spacious, well-appointed room and breakfast that was plentiful and delicious every day.
