Riad Jaouhara

The garden was a lovely place to unwind with tea after a day out. It’s full of well-kept greenery and flowers, with peaceful seating areas and a striking cactus over 100 years old and 3m tall. Breakfast is complimentary each day, with fresh local food including Moroccan pastries and juices. It’s simple but satisfying, and there are options for different tastes. The staff were welcoming and attentive, helped with our luggage, offered mint tea on arrival, and gave us travel tips. They could also arrange transfers. Their warm, professional service made the place feel homely. The rooms combine traditional Moroccan decor, colorful tilework, and modern conveniences. Ours was roomy and well kept, with a comfortable bed and a useful refrigerator. The location is just a few minutes on foot from the Blue Gate of Fez Medina, so it was easy to find and get a taxi. Restaurants, cafes, juice bars, and street food were within a five-minute walk, making it convenient for exploring. The riad was cozy and reasonably priced, and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for a stay in Fez.

We loved spending time in the courtyard, whether at breakfast or after a long day touring, walking through the souk, or having dinner. The Riad is attractive, comfortable, and well maintained. It’s very close to two Medina gates, including the Blue Gate, with restaurants and the souk just outside. Ahmad, who’s there in the evening and overnight, and Souka, who works during the day, were both fantastic. They were attentive, helpful, good humored, and knowledgeable. We relied on them often and came to like them a lot. Everyone was friendly and eager to help. We speak only English, and their English was really good. They arranged a taxi from the train station, and whenever we needed another taxi, they sorted it out. They also organized day trips outside Fez, including to the mountains and to Meknes and that area. Laundry came back the same day, at a reasonable price. We also ordered a delicious, filling dinner during the day for that evening, and they got the lactose-free milk I needed. Everything was convenient, fairly priced, and enjoyable. I’d gladly stay at Riad Jaouhara again and look forward to seeing our friends there.

Just a two-minute walk from the medina’s Blue Gate, with small shops and restaurants even closer, this is a very convenient spot. Nearby restaurants stay open until midnight. The staff were kind and helpful, and we enjoyed the breakfast. Highly recommend.

The staff were attentive, helpful, and provided wonderful service. The location is excellent, near the Blue Gate at the top of the old Medina, with great restaurants an easy walk away. The guest house has a rustic, traditional look, huge rooms facing a pleasant courtyard, and a front-facing rooftop terrace with wonderful views over the Medina.
