I wouldn’t recommend booking here. I reserved two nights through Airbnb two weeks ahead, and the owner, Assya, confirmed the room. We traveled to Essaouira that afternoon, but at 4 pm on the reservation day she messaged that someone had booked my room through Booking and she had no room for me. At her hotel, other people were there but couldn’t understand us or offer any help. Assya read my Airbnb messages and didn’t reply, and she never came to the hotel. We were left in the street and had to rush to find another room by 8 pm, with nowhere to spend the night until then. Being put in that situation on holiday was very stressful.

The location puts you just a minute’s walk from the action, and the rooftop terrace was magical at sunrise. Breakfast was lovely, surrounded by beautiful Moroccan art, and the decor throughout is stunning. We felt completely at home, only in a much more beautiful home.

The riad is right in the heart of the medina, and the staff were so helpful and friendly that it really felt like home. Our clean room and bathroom, the pleasant music, and a rich breakfast with fruit salad all made the stay lovely. The food was beautifully arranged, and there was also an interesting display of pictures by a local artist. I loved it, and would give more than five stars if I could.

The location in the middle of the old city was the best part, and the staff were welcoming when we arrived. We were three and had a double bed plus a single, but there was no bathroom or shower in the room, so we had to go out to use either. The door squeaked, which made nighttime bathroom trips tricky when we were trying not to wake anyone. The breakfast was okay, though we’d had better in Marrakech. Our expectations had been higher than the reality, and it was all right for one night.

We’ve been back a second time and love it just as much. The riad’s authentic beauty shows in every detail, and the terrace is amazing. Yassir and Omar are so kind, the breakfast is great, and the atmosphere is lovely. It’s a perfect spot to relax and make art. Highly recommended!
