Riad Mimouna

We had a magical two nights, with a fantastic room right by the sea. The waves were more lively than we expected, splashing up to the window from far below, but it was great fun. The room did smell a little musty from the damp. Opening the window for 15 minutes cleared the air enough.

I’ve stayed here twice now, and it feels like my second home in Essaouira. The rooftop restaurant is stunning, with indoor and outdoor seating that’s perfect on a sunny day. I loved the Moroccan salad and monkfish tajine. The staff are kind and helpful, and the location on the wall comes with spectacular sea views. The road is one of the few in Essaouira with a lift, which is brilliant if you have mobility issues. See you soon.

The service was kind and welcoming, and the rooms were large, clean, and had ocean views. I liked the riad’s architecture and its rooftop, where you can watch the ocean and sunset. The breakfast buffet was disappointing, though the coffee was okay. It’s tucked deep inside the Medina.

The restaurant is good, though the menu is a little limited. You can’t beat the sea view from these rooms, and they’re very comfortable, if a bit tired. There’s no vehicle access to the Riad, so it’s a five-minute walk from the nearest road. Cars aren’t allowed in the Medina.
