I had a really terrible stay. The room was small, dirty, and cold, and I couldn't use the heater. The bathroom was awful too, the pillowcase was damaged and the blanket was dirty. The owner seemed focused on money all the time. I asked to cancel, but he wouldn't agree. Staying here could ruin your trip.

We paid very little, and the breakfasts they made were huge, beautiful, and really delicious. Our room was quiet and a couple of floors up, with bunk beds, a large bathroom, and great air conditioning. The beds were very hard, though that seemed to be true everywhere we stayed in Morocco. The owners were lovely, but Google Translate came in handy. We paid a small amount to have our laundry done, which saved us time and was worth it. The area felt safe and was in a perfect spot. I'd recommend it to women traveling alone, too. If you don't mind the stairs, ask for an upper floor, since the ground floor gets noisy with people checking in and moving around. Great value. I'd stay at this riad again if we return.

We got there in the morning, and the owner kindly let us check in before noon. The house is a lovely traditional dar, with beautiful, clean rooms and very steady free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was both tasty and plentiful. Its location is great, near Bab Boujeloud but away from the maze-like medina.

Rachid and Fatima made us feel welcome and gave us useful suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The guesthouse is right beside the Blue Gate, the main entrance to the Fes medina and the two main roads through it. That made it easy to find our way back through the maze, and a handy starting point for walking tours to other parts and sights. The house also has a pleasant courtyard and rooftop, and the rooms were clean and worked well. It's a great budget option in Fes.
