We had a pleasant two days. The staff were very friendly, particularly Ismail at reception, and the rooms were spotless. The washrooms were well maintained, which mattered most to us. Our AC didn’t work, but the weather was cold and nice, so it wasn’t a big issue. The food was good, though aimed more at tourists than local flavours, unlike where we’d stayed before.
We felt safe in the hotel, although we were told not to leave it. There’s laundry service, which was great, and the rooftop restaurant had pretty good food and service. Watch out for the motion sensor lights, since sometimes they don’t pick up your movement. The skeleton key for the doors can also be finicky.
Everything in Fes is easy to get to from this location. The receptionist was welcoming and service was good. Breakfast was OK, but the choices were very limited. The view from the 9th floor restaurant is impeccable. 8/10.
The breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the hotel was clean. Beds were comfortable, if a little firm. Lots of tour groups stay here, so independent travellers might prefer somewhere else. Definitely avoid the 8th floor: chairs scraping across the floor in the dining room above drove us nearly insane. Replacing those heavy chairs would help.
They wouldn’t sell me water at reception, even though the hotel had large bottles. I had to cross a busy street to buy one and nearly got hit by a car. It cost 10MAD there, while the same bottle with dinner at the hotel was 20MAD. Making guests take that risk to get water, then charging double for it at dinner, felt very inconsiderate. Stay elsewhere.
