Palais Amani

After a long couple of weeks on the road, I needed somewhere to rest, and Palais Amani exceeded my expectations. It was the perfect place to spend my last couple of days relaxing after a very busy stretch in Morocco. The staff were lovely, the rooms beautiful, and the garden out of this world. Breakfast was fantastic. I wish I could've stayed longer to try the spa and restaurant. Next time for sure.

The floor staff were polite and clearly tried their best, but the front desk and cashier ruined our Christmas Eve dinner at Eden at Palais Amani. When we honestly said the poor food didn't match the price, the man at reception was arrogant and dismissive. Instead of apologizing or taking the feedback on board, he brushed us off with “many other people appreciate it,” as if we were the problem. It's shameful for a restaurant to reject criticism. If you want fine dining in Fes, look elsewhere and don't waste your money here. The meal was a huge disappointment despite our high expectations. The lobster bisque arrived lukewarm, and the royal prawns were mushy and didn't seem fresh. The John Dory was coarse and completely tasteless, with messy, unappetizing plating that looked carelessly thrown together. The duck breast was well below average. The food quality was shockingly poor and nowhere near worth the high price.

We really liked this little boutique hotel. It sits inside the old Medina, and the staff were both warm and efficient. The restaurant was good too. I wish we'd stayed longer so we could try a cooking class. Maybe next time!

The room was roomy and comfortable, and the rooftop view was a nice extra. We also had the best lamb tagine of our trip here, which I'd highly recommend. Service was five-star from arrival through checkout: we left our passports in the safe, and the staff brought them to us just before we left at 7am.
