Riad Jamal

My stay at Riad Jamal in Fes was terrible from beginning to end. It felt unsafe and extremely disappointing. The riad was dirty and poorly maintained, the rooms smelled bad, bathrooms weren’t properly cleaned, and the shared areas were neglected. The towels and bedding looked old and questionable. The owner acted very unprofessionally toward guests. He flirted with and tried to get close to a young female guest, making the atmosphere uncomfortable and unsafe. Guests should feel secure and respected, and that wasn’t our experience. There was constant noise, and staff seemed indifferent when we complained. The service and facilities were poor for the prices. It felt like a tourist trap focused on personal gain instead of guests. I strongly do not recommend Riad Jamal. There are many cleaner, safer, more respectful riads in Fes that care about their guests.

Meals were a highlight at Riad Jamal: the Moroccan dishes were flavorful and authentic, made with fresh ingredients and care, and breakfast had an impressive variety of delicious, nicely presented choices. Jamal, his wife, and their daughter Zineb gave me such a warm welcome that I felt at home right away. They were attentive and ready to help with anything I needed. The riad is stunning, with the authentic charm of traditional Moroccan architecture. I really enjoyed spending time with Jamal and his wife.

The room we picked was snug but cozy and had everything we needed, and breakfast was great. Inside, the building is beautifully decorated in traditional Moroccan style. Jamal and his daughter looked after us so well and really pampered us. Thank you again for the hospitality at Riad Jamal.

They arranged a tour of Fez for me, plus an excursion to the Sahara Desert with dedicated transport. I was on another continent, but felt right at home. The Riad is beautiful, very clean, and has typical Moroccan architecture. The owners are so kind, and the dinners featuring traditional food were amazing. There’s also a lovely roof terrace with sofas where you can relax and look out across the city rooftops. I’d highly recommend it, the best Riad in Fez.
