Riad Les Idrissides

The central location was quiet, and the riad was beautiful, with cozy rooms. The decor and breakfast were both just right.

This was the best stay of our backpacking trip through Morocco, and we haven’t even checked out yet. Salah and Fatima treated us like family. Their kindness, attention to detail, and hospitality made us feel looked after all the time. It was a pleasure to return to our room and decompress after busy days in the Medina. It really felt like home. The Riad is inside the Medina, just a few minutes’ walk from the blue gate. Thank you, Salah and Fatima!

Finding the Riad the first time took some effort. It’s on a back street that feels like a maze, and there aren’t many signs, so Google Maps or something similar will help. After a few walks, we had it figured out. Once there, the location was hard to beat, near the Medina entrance and off the Main Street. We spent three nights and had a good time. Breakfast was included each day: boiled egg, plenty of bread, and tea, a typical Moroccan spread. Our Sherazade room was large and comfortable, with a TV, couch, bed, a/c, and private bathroom. The bed was firm, but we found it comfortable. Since the Riad isn’t on the Main Street, the room was quiet, and with only two other bedrooms there weren’t many guests. There’s an old plumbing system, so the bathroom smell was noticeable when we first entered the room. We got used to it quickly and it didn’t really bother us. The host was fantastic, and we’d recommend staying here and would come back.

The rooftop terrace has a lovely view, and it was nice to be able to enjoy tea up there whenever we wanted. The breakfasts were delicious, and our room was thoroughly cleaned each day, with fresh towels and sheets. Les idrissides is close to the blue gate, which made exploring the medina easy. Salah and fatima made us feel welcome right away, and it was a pleasure meeting them. Salah can also help arrange tours to other sites. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Fes.
