La Maison Maure

We stayed for two nights and were upgraded to a suite. Manager Yaseen and chef Wafaa were both so nice, and dinner and breakfast were just perfect. Couldn't have asked for more. Shukran a thousand times.

The riad is tucked just off the main road in the medina, so it was quiet and peaceful. We found it easily by following the signs. The location is also very convenient for getting to the heart of Fes. Christian was warm and welcoming, and we felt at home. Our room was beautiful, with a comfortable bed and a great shower. Breakfast was freshly made in the morning, with crepes, omelettes, pastries, and French press coffee, all delicious. We only wish we'd had longer, and we'd love to return.

We had a lovely three-night stay at Maison Maure. Christian, the French owner who lives in Fes, and his "bras-droigt" Driss made us feel right at home. They were chatty, which we enjoyed, and we learned a lot about Fes and Morroco. Christian even stopped at the CTM Bus office on his way home to buy our tickets to Chefchaouen and later Rabat. They also arranged a day trip to Meknès with a private driver for EUR90, which seemed reasonable. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great, especially on the terrasse when it was warm enough. The one downside was weak WiFi, particularly in the room, which was also an issue at the other Riads we stayed at in Morroco. We'd definitely recommend Maison Maure to anyone visiting Fes.

The Road looked clean and attractive, but the price felt high for the service we got. Idriss, the manager, came across as distant and unfriendly. We woke up late, and when he said it was too late for breakfast, he didn't even suggest somewhere else to go. Breakfast isn't included at this riad, either. Another couple who checked out before us also seemed unhappy with the manager. For the cost, I found the service lacking, and would suggest looking elsewhere.
