La Maison des Amis

Line was such a thoughtful host. She met me outside the medina and showed me the two main streets, which was especially helpful since Fez’ medina is the biggest and oldest in the world!!! She also works with a taxi company that can take people directly from the airport to her house, ideal for a late arrival. The house was the most beautiful I've ever seen. Its recently renovated Moroccan chic rooms were a relaxing place to stay, with extremely comfortable beds. The courtyard was bright and airy, with sunlight coming in while keeping the heat out. There was also a leisure room with games, books, guides and toys. I loved the rooftop terrace, with a view toward the 14th century ruins on the hills of Fez. I was lucky to have the most delicious breakfast there, made by Line. I loved the experience and wished I could've stayed longer. When I come back to Fez, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Line has a big soul and a real passion for her work, and you can tell.

Breakfast at this lovely place was a real highlight, especially the homemade jams and all the other fresh options. The rooms are roomy and tastefully furnished, and after long days exploring Fez, it was easy to relax in the calm, private atmosphere. "Maison des amis" is right in the Medina, handy for the souk and the sights. Line and Denis run it with so much care and passion. If you're coming to Fez, I'd absolutely recommend staying here. Five stars.

Coming back from FES, we're still talking about the lovely time we had with Line and Denis. The breakfast table was a great chance to chat and get useful local suggestions, and we left feeling like we'd made two new friends. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, the decor was sublime, and the owners were so kind and helpful. A truly magnificent trip, and a top-notch riad.
