Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech

It's a great course, but my Bushnell V5 rangefinder went missing. After our round, the golf course staff took our clubs and cleaned the buggies. The device had been on the buggy, but when I got back to the hotel, it wasn't in its case on the bag. I've emailed and called the club several times and still haven't heard back. That's not what I'd expect from a golf club of this quality.

The bar staff were helpful, but for our group of 8 they didn't have enough large glasses, and the prices were ridiculous: €24 for one pint of lager and 3 coca cola. The course itself was only 6/10 this year, compared with 9/10 when we played in February last year. We also found a €30 increase in fees and a compulsory caddie, which we hadn't been told about before arriving, although Omar was a great caddie. It's still a great setup, but the higher costs and poorer condition were disappointing. I'd consider coming next year if things change.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and the team had put a lovely decoration in our room. Such a thoughtful gesture. The staff were nice, the place was calm, and the food was good. Best experience ever, highly recommended.

The caddies at royal palm are very supportive and do their best even during Ramadan. Carts are scarce, so move quickly if you need one, or try to reserve in advance. It's a very nice golf course in a quite wide hotel area, with a good bar and pro shop. There are some standout spots, trees, interesting holes, wide waste areas, and plenty of bunkers.
