The gardens were lovely and well kept, and breakfast was generally good. Those were the only real positives for me during a week here in November, booked through Luxair tours. The rooms were spacious but very old and had a lot of problems, especially the bathroom. It was extremely dirty, with thick limescale everywhere, so unpleasant to touch the toilet flush, shower handle, or doorknobs. The toilet seat was broken when we arrived and had just been left on the floor, so we had to ask reception to fix it. A strong sewage smell stayed in the bathroom throughout our visit. After a few days the sink clogged, and again reception had to be asked to repair it. The towels were very thin and looked at least 20 years old. We put out the bedsheet-change sign, but they were never changed, even after we asked reception several times. One night there was even a half-dead cockroach in the bathroom. The food was below average apart from breakfast, which had a decent range of options. Flies were all over the place and the food was left uncovered. At one of the special restaurants, the sofa was covered in bread crumbs, which I cleaned up myself. It was impossible to relax by the pool with loud music playing for almost all of its opening hours. When we arrived, the person carrying our luggage, which we hadn’t asked for, got angry, apparently cursed at us, and spat because we didn’t yet have cash to tip him. I honestly don’t know how this hotel has so many good reviews. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

We had another really enjoyable stay at Tikida Palmeira. The grounds were neat and green, the room was big and clean, the staff were great, and the kids club was lovely for our baby. Our child especially loved the kids club, so a special shout-out to that team. The food was the one small downside: pretty average, much the same each day, and it could have been healthier. For example, the orange juice had sugar in it. We really enjoyed Nakheel restaurant, though. We’d recommend the resort for families, especially those with young children, and it also works if you don’t have kids. The other guests were kind and peaceful. Toward the end of our stay, when the French winter school holidays began, a lot of French people arrived. Quite a few were rude, cutting in line, not respecting people’s privacy, and smoking by the pool. That’s nothing to do with the lovely resort or its amazing staff, but it may be worth considering when planning around French school holidays.

We had fun on the tennis courts, and the hotel supplied rackets and balls. The Moroccan restaurant was our favorite place to eat. You won’t go hungry, though the buffets do get a bit repetitive. This was our second visit, and unfortunately the weather was the coldest and wettest it had been in five years. The main building has a warm bar where we found the best coffee on site. The indoor pool felt too cold and looked a bit worn and dated. It was too cold for the outdoor pool as well, but on sunny afternoons it was nice to sit outside by it.

The food had lots of choice and was kept fresh, and the hotel made a real effort for Halloween. The animation team were great fun. Our first room had a problem, but we were moved promptly and without any fuss. I was back with a friend, and the hotel was just as lovely as I remembered. The rooms are large and airy, and the service is top notch. We’d suggest making better use of the theatre and improving the entertainment. Maybe it was because it was later in the year, but it would make sense to have the kids’ entertainment earlier and save after 9pm for adults. The musician in the bar was great, though. A fantastic holiday.

Our room was huge, with a lovely outdoor area, and I’d stay here again if I returned to Marrakesh. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained, with friendly, welcoming staff. The main buffet really surprised me for an all-inclusive resort: the food was high quality, freshly cooked, replenished often, and there was plenty of variety.
