Hôtel La Renaissance Marrakech

The location was the one good thing, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was dreadful: the toilet seat was broken and practically came off in our hands, the backing behind the toilet was torn off, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The bathroom handle came off in our hands too. It felt a bit like Fawlty Towers. We complained and were shown several other rooms, but they weren’t much better. Cleanliness was poor. Staff said WiFi was available throughout, but there was no signal in the rooms; we could only use it in reception. I’d avoid this hotel.

We were a group of nine, and after we sat down and got menus, they told us the chef had gone home when we tried to order food. It felt like they didn’t want our money because we were the wrong sort of people. We were shocked and disappointed. Around the corner at the little mamma, we got excellent service from lovely staff and great food. We won’t recommend this place. It looks great, but the service was awful.

The pool was closed during my stay, dirty and neglected, and nothing like the photos on the booking site. That felt completely misleading. The facilities overall were extremely outdated, worn and poorly maintained. I’d call it a 2-star property at best, nowhere near 4-star standards. At 2 AM someone opened my room door, which was unacceptable and left me feeling completely unsafe. I asked to change rooms, but the replacement was even worse: darker, less comfortable and just as run down. This place didn’t meet the comfort or expectations I’d have for a 4-star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it or return.

Avoid this place. The bathroom door handle was falling off, the toilet had no seat fixed in place, and there was no WiFi in the rooms despite staff saying it was available. We could only get online in reception. The hotel needs a complete overhaul. We left after one night. Terrible.
