House of Fusion Marrakech

We spent a full day at House of Fusion Marrakech taking a cooking class, and it was both delicious and a wonderful experience. The meal we made was easily one of the best we had in Morocco. Edwina brings contagious energy and has a real knack for putting her own spin on Moroccan dishes, so you won’t find the usual three or four things served everywhere else. Highly recommend it.

Cooking vegetarian and vegan food in a private class was the highlight of our time in Marrakech. We found it through Google reviews, with no other connection in the city, and we’ve both visited Morocco before as well as for the first time. Chef Edwina and chef Hasna made the day unforgettable, from our first inquiry through afterward. Chef Edwina is still sending us custom recipes and a video from the day. It works for cooks at any level, from beginners to experts. The experience has a smaller tourist footprint and felt like a welcome change from the overly touristy options in the region. Their practices are sustainable and ethical in every way and with everyone involved. They were welcoming of all identities and the special and health needs we had. Chef Edwina’s social work background makes her especially thoughtful about accommodations. We’ll do a mountain trip with Chef Edwina next time. If the course descriptions sound appealing and there’s availability, just book. This is an unsolicited review, and I only write about local businesses that are truly extraordinary.

After lunch, we stopped by a local spice trader and bought spices to take home. Earlier, my daughter Bethany and I had gone to the local market with Edwina to get vegetables and spices, then returned to her riad to cook a feast of delicious vegan Moroccan dishes. We’re not very experienced cooks, and Edwina was fabulous, kind, and patient throughout the fully immersive day. She’s a fascinating person and easy to talk to. Rosie the rescue dog came along to the market, and there are also lots of rescued cats living with Edwina. I’d thoroughly recommend House of Fusion to anyone visiting Marrakech. We plan to visit again.

The dinner at House of Fusion was incredible, and every course topped the one before. I could barely fit dessert, but it was too delicious to skip. Edwina deserves a Michelin star. A highlight of Marrakech!
