Palais Calipau

We spent five lovely days here. The rooftop is spacious and peaceful, and the location near Bab Agnau was convenient. Inside, the rooms felt roomy, the whole place smelled wonderful, and two little kittens wandered around. The staff were so kind and helpful, and the riad itself is stunning. A small suggestion: it might be nice to offer snacks and cold drinks on the roof more proactively. We would have happily lingered there for hours. We never asked, though, and I’m sure they’d have brought us something if we had.

We only stayed one night and wished we’d booked longer. The room was large, the staff welcoming, and both the terrace and interior were gorgeous. It was one of the best riads of our trip, especially considering how reasonable the price was for this quality. I’d definitely recommend it.

Breakfast was SO good, and the staff were great. We loved spending time with them. The shower setup was poorly designed, so water ended up all over the room, and the water stayed lukewarm rather than getting warm or hot. There were also too many insects around, including moths, flies, and butterflies. 2/5, honest review.

The staff were the highlight, always friendly and helpful, smiling whenever we saw them. We had breakfast, which was very good, and ended up having lunch at the riad three times because the food was delicious. We also loved the massage and hammam. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with tea and cookies, all delicious, and our room was lovely too. We’ll come back next time we’re in Marrakesh.
